Kazakhstan is a notable, target market for BEL Valves where we have a significant track record and installed base.
In 2008 we established a local partnership with Kulsary Gas in support of valve commissioning for the major fields in-country and to maintain the installed base in country with upgrades and general service support. The main facility based in Kulsary Town is positioned to provide support to the main production base at the Tengiz field. The development of this facility included the design and installation of new test bays, 10 ton crane capacity, hydraulic flushing equipment and a nitrogen test facility. In addition to this we designed and created a new purpose built clean assembly area, equipped with all necessary tooling to complete assembly, test and aftermarket activities. To further support the developments in Kazakhstan we later opened another facility in Karabatan housing a number of new test bays, with a brand new assembly and service area.
The facilities act as a central service base providing local support. This includes but is not limited to planned maintenance to meet statutory and shutdown requirements, delivery of service requirements in none-shutdown periods, development of an auditable installed data base, assessment of overhaul requirements, spares and parts stock holding, and valve conversions. In addition to supporting new and existing BEL Valves’ products; service support will be extended to our respective in country customers to deliver maintenance and repair of drilling spools, wellheads and other items as required.
The employees at the facility are fully integrated within the oil and gas community in Kazakhstan and understand the complex requirements of operations in country. That’s why we feel it’s best to offer local support to local projects, with technical valve knowledge given in the UK in support of this. Mirroring the training program provided for our other local engineers, the Kazakh engineers spent a minimum of three months at our facility in the UK to understand the full scope of valve design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, service, repair and maintenance.
