There are a number of specific requirements for valves intended for processing oil, gas and chemicals; to lower working pressures; high working temperatures; limiting the number of crevices and ‘dead’ spaces; and the capability of opening and closing against pressure without creating a rapid change in pressure downstream.
Why globe valves, the operational benefits. Globe valves provide a reliable solution for oil, gas and chemical processing due to the capability of delivering tight shut off at these high and low pressures and maintain this with changing temperature. With a design suitable for closing against full differential pressure, globe valves can also be modified to provide accurate throttling service. Typical applications include downstream processing, urea and ammonia production and these tend to be viscous and non-lubricating fluids with noxious effects if released to the atmosphere – with the clear critical requirement of tight shut off. Globe valves can be opened and closed to give a gradual change of flow having the benefit of reduced risk of downstream pressure shock.
Benefits of BEL Valves Globe Valves. Downstream processing and chemical manufacturing valve design draws on equipment designed to satisfy similar API and ANSI specifications to those used in hydrocarbons production projects. Using our history of provision and expertise has enabled us to deliver our globe valve solutions to the same stringent standards demanded by upstream applications. The BEL Valves design is therefore particularly suited for corrosive and hazardous duty, such as Urea Service. Valves can be manufactured from a range of materials, such as austenitic stainless steel and nickel alloys, with body and seats designed to eliminate the unwanted cavities and crevices. For low temperature service such as ammonia production, the valves are made from low temperature carbon steel with 13% chromium trim and stellite hard facing.

Materials, specification and approvals. All of our globe valve designs are in accordance with the relevant industry codes and standards including ASME B16.34, ASME B16.10, API 623, BS 1873. The design also provides fire safe requirements in accordance with the international standards API 6FA/ISO 10497.
