BEL Valves has completed a 25 piece order for the Yanbu project in Saudi Arabia which required the design and manufacture of fabricated Gate Valves ranging from 18” up to 56”. The three 56” valves, weighing 42 tonnes each, are the largest ever to be manufactured by BEL Valves.
As a result of the ongoing investment into its Newcastle and Milan facilities, along with access to state-of-the-art machinery, BEL Valves is well equipped to manufacture a full range of products from ½” to 56” in diameter, ANSI 150lb through to 2,500lb and to API 10,000 psi. BEL Valves’ long-standing history of supplying bespoke enabling technologies for global customers places them as a supplier of choice.
The valves were manufactured at BEL Valves’ Milan facility and transported to BEL Valves Newcastle to be assembled and tested. They will be used at Saudi Aramco’s Yanbu site, for the development of an integrated industrial complex. This is expected to become operational in 2025; converting over 400,000 barrels of crude oil to chemicals per day.
David Gallagher, Projects Director at BEL Valves, said: “The project is now coming to a close, and although there have been challenges while working with such large quantities and sizes, the last valves from this order are now being delivered and are in the process of being commissioned in Saudi Arabia.”
Due to the dimensions and weight of the product, special measures were necessary during manufacture through to assembly to ensure that quality and safety standards were maintained. This care extended to the packaging and transportation of the order which was provided by our sister company, Stadium Export Services.
